IPM and TBF to speak at Lloret de Mar conference

Next week, Cat Mitton, the Institute’s Executive Director will travel to Lloret de Mar for a conference organised by the City Council and the University of Girona, titled “Urban strategies for the dynamization of trade”. This is the conference’s second consecutive year, which aims to discuss, from a very broad and transversal view, the approaches and partnership models established in Spain and the UK to improve economic prosperity.

Cat will be participating in a round-table discussion on the future of high streets and trade with Muntsa Vilalta, General Director of Commerce at the Department of Business and Knowledge for the Government of Catalonia.

Ahead of her visit, Cat said, “I am thrilled to be able to share the lessons we are learning here in the UK on the future of our high streets and town centres. Having met Catalonian government earlier this year, upon their visit to London, it is clear to see they are commited to address the challenges their towns and cities are facing, by creating interventions that will help businesses prosper. I am looking forward to the discussions and I am certain that there will be shared learning and knowledge exchange.”

In addition to providing an overview of the UK economy, Cat will provide an overview of the work of The BID Foundation and development of Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) in the UK, by sharing the findings of the state-of-the-art review of the BID industry, published in April 2019.
