Catherine Turness joins as new Executive Director

Following a full day of interviews and presentations on the 23rd March, we are very happy to announce that Catherine Turness will be joining us as the new Executive Director for The BID Foundation and IPM. There were a number of strong candidates for the role, but the presentation and interview panels both agreed that Catherine had the skills, experience and personality to join the senior team and drive forward an ambitious agenda for membership and  service delivery.

“I am thrilled to join the IPM and The BID Foundation, at what is without doubt, an exciting time for the sector. With prior knowledge as a Member of IPM and having served The BID Foundation as a Council Member, I feel well-positioned to provide strategic leadership for the organisations and ensure the membership offers serve the needs of place practitioners worldwide. I leave behind my position as Chair of the South of England BIDs group and 7 happy years at Winchester BID, which is in a strong position as it begins to embark on its third term of delivery. I look forward to continuing working closely with BIDs and place professionals.”

Catherine has a thorough knowledge of the Business Improvement District Sector, holding positions including Executive Director and BID Manager at Winchester BID. "The BID Foundation will benefit from Catherine's BIDs background and the excellent reputation she has in the industry" said Andrew Cooper, Chair of The BID Foundation and CEO of Leeds BID.

Catherine has also recently been awarded an MBA, completing her dissertation on the topic of BID governance. "Catherine impressed us with her understanding of the challenges facing place managers as well as her appreciation for the role of research and evidence in supporting both place management policy and practice" said Professor Cathy Parker, Chair of the Institute of Place Management.

Catherine will take up her Executive Director role in early June 2018 and the whole team are looking forward to welcoming and working with her.
